Something To Remember

Madonna collects together some of her best ballads, to create a romantic and emotional retrospective of her ballad discography. Something To Remember includes many of her hits, including "This Used To Be My Playground", from the film A League Of Their Own, a tribute to childhood and memories, while "I'll Remember" is about Madonna's mother and the memories it brings back. New tracks include the David Foster co-produced and co-written "You'll See", a beautiful followup to "Human Nature", a song about independence and self reliance, along with "One More Chance", a romantic love ballad. Madonna also remakes "I Want You", originally recorded by Marvin Gaye and she combines electronica with orchestra, in two versions of the song, along with the British group Massive Attack. She would further develop this style with Ray Of Light, evident on the first single "Frozen". Madonna's hit singles are included, such as "Live To Tell", which makes its third appearance on a Madonna album, "Crazy For You", "Take A Bow", "Oh Father" and "Rain". Some romantic album cuts she includes are "Something To Remember", the beautiful ballad from Dick Tracy, "Forbidden Love" and a remix of "Love Don't Live Here Anymore", which doesn't do much to the song, except giving it a more "modern" feel. Yet these last two tracks are overshadowed by the beauty of the other tracks included.
