SURE SHOTS TIP LIST
Bubbling under the 50. Most likely to make a chart impact.
1. Everclear "One Hit Wonder"
Serviced to radio this week. A sure winner.
2. Stabbing Westward "Haunting Me"
3. Collective Soul "Run"
New single from new album "Dosage". Not as strong as previous material. But you never know..
4. Rob Zombie "Living Dead Girl"
Followup to mega Top 5 smash "Dragula".
5. Sprung Monkey "Super Breakdown"
6. Train "Free"

SHOOT THE RADIO SHITLIST
Overplayed, overrated, overhyped. Least likely to make chart impact.
1. Shawn Mullins "Lullaby"
His followup "Shimmer" is pretty bad as well. Look for it on the shitlist in upcoming weeks.
2. Smashing Pumpkins "Crestfallen"
This can put anyone to sleep, seriously. I guess it's good for something...
3. Will Smith "Miami"
4. Emilia "Big Big World"
More proof that marketing can get you anywhere. It's low grade pop crap. I'd take N Sync or the Spice Girls any day over this shit!
5. Whitney & Mariah "When You Believe"

CHART UPDATE

The only major movement is a huge leap for Hole's "Malibu", moving up 5 spots within the Top 10 to #5 up from #10. The strong second single from the awesome set Celebrity Skin has its radio airplay on alternative boosted from its Billboard Music Awards performance. It is also the followup to "Celebrity Skin", which remains in the Top 10 for its 17th week. The predecessor shows no signs of moving out either. Outside the Top 10, Creed's "One", another followup to a mega successful single, moves up to #11 from #13. It is set to crack in the Top 10 in upcoming weeks, once older titles such as "Psycho Man" and "10,000 Horses" move out. Despite its bullet, the latter single is experiencing a quick burnout at radio. Although a great song, it will not see the success of its predecessor "It's Alright". This week's Most Improved title goes to Jonny Lang's "Still Rainin'", the blues single from the young prodigy. It is another sure Top 10 hit in upcoming weeks. Another blues hit is making consistent gains. Kenny Wayne Shepherd's fourth single from the Trouble Is... set, "Everything Is Broken" moves up to #21 and is still growing at radio.

HALL OF FAME

Hole's "Celebrity Skin" remains at #1 on the Hall Of Fame. However, close behind is Creed's "What's This Life For", which has been ranking higher than "Skin" in all of its 16 chart weeks so it will come as no surprise when it finally takes over the #1 spot. Also close behind are Goo Goo Dolls' "Slide" and Kiss' "Psycho Circus", the former a strong contender, the latter is making a furious plunge down the chart. Longstanding hits "Dragula" and "Got You" from Rob Zombie and The Flys, have been consistently charting in the Top 20 and if they continue to do so, they will outlast many of the hit singles that don't do so and end up higher in the overall rankings. The same goes for Fastball's "Fire Escape", which has spent a total of 22 weeks on the chart and it has ranked no higher than #14.

ROCK SPOTLIGHT

The biggest success story continues on rock radio. It is Everlast's "What It's Like", a song I predicted great things for as my Power Pick - Airplay, a couple of weeks back. At the time, airplay was still relatively small. Now, the single is #1 on alternative and #5 on mainstream rock. The single has blues, R&B and acoustic rock influences, definitely very different from the other stuff hard rock radio is playing. It may go all the way to #1 on hard rock radio and it will be well deserved. It is #2 in popular points, just behind the major crossover smash "Fly Away", Lenny Kravitz's biggest hit in years.

GOLD & PLATINUM

GOLD -
The Black Crowes - "Kickin' My Heart Around"
Econoline Crush - "Surefire (Never Enough)"
Jerry Cantrell - "My Song"

After months on the chart, Jerry Cantrell finally goes gold with the lowest peaking gold single. "My Song" peaked out at a respectable #17.
