1. Marvelous 3 "Freak Of The Week"
SURE SHOTS TIP LIST
Bubbling under the 50. Most likely to make a chart impact.
Just missed out again this week but still the #1 bubbling under tune.
2. Placebo "Pure Morning"
As the single continues to gain airplay on active rock radio, the song is growing on me. Could be on the chart soon.
3. The Offspring "Why Don't You Get A Job"
4. Indigenous "Now That You're Gone"
5. Limp Bizkit "Faith"
1. Shawn Mullins "Lullaby"
SHOOT THE RADIO SHITLIST
Overplayed, overrated, overhyped. Least likely to make chart impact.
12 weeks at #1.
2. Touch & Go "Would You..."
3. Janet Jackson "Every Time"
4. The Offspring "Staring At The Sun"
It's getting some airplay and it's one of my least favorite tracks on "Americana".
5. Beck "Tropicalia"
Beck bores me. This single sounds like any of his other stuff and he's damn overrated.
NUMBER ONE
It's the 7th week for The Black Crowes with "Kickin' My Heart Around", the lead single off of their fifth studio album, By Your Side. The single is hot at rock radio and is in fact #1 on Radio & Records Rock Chart. What a great single, it definitely deserves it. The Crowes hold off some serious competition and still faces the 15 week old "10,000 Horses", a single which is getting no support whatsoever from radio anymore but is #1 in personal points for a second week, moving it up to #2, ever closer to the coveted top spot. In contrast, "Kickin" is #2 in personal points and #10 in popular points, giving it a 10 point lead overall. And don't count out Metallica as well. Their former #1 single "Turn The Page" has been making gains the past few weeks and could very well take the #1 spot again. It is #3 in personal points and #9 in popular points.
NEW ENTRIES
Last week's #2 tip is this week's highest new entry. Collective Soul chart single number two as "Heavy", their single at rock radio is already #7 in popular points and #19 in personal points, allowing the single to chart at #15 on its first week. It is the biggest opening week for any single since Metallica had a #5 debut with "Turn The Page" 9 weeks ago. Rammstein also makes a noteworthy debut at #31 with their second single "Sehnsucht", not exactly a huge radio hit like its predecessor "Du Hast", but in my opinion, a better song. Further down the chart, a single which has been bubbling under for a while, Failure's "Enjoy The Silence", finally enters at #43 but will probably not go high (but who knows?). The new Black Sabbath single also opens at #46 and should be moving up the chart, perhaps to match the success of their first single "Psycho Man".
THE LONGEVITY CHECK
Eve 6 is still charted but moving down the chart furiously as popular points are consistently dropping and personal points are low. However, "Inside Out" spends its 25th overall week on the chart. If you look at that in terms of a year, it has been nearly half a year that this single has been charted. Meanwhile, Hole's "Celebrity Skin" has dropped out of the Top 10 for the first time in its 20 weeks on the chart. It has spent 19 weeks inside the Top 10, occupying each and every position in the Top 10 (yes, from 1 to 10). Creed's "What's This Life For" does not have this distinction but it is still #10 this week. It is the Huge Point Loser though and could be out of the Top 10 by next week. It has also spent 19 weeks in the Top 10. These two are the biggest chart hits. Who can top the 19 week stay in the Top 10? We'll see.
ROCK SPOTLIGHT
Collective Soul are making a major comeback with their two new singles, "Heavy" and "Run". "Heavy" is #6 on Mainstream Rock and #25 on Alternative while "Run" is one of MTV's most played clips.

PLATINUM -
Kiss - "Psycho Circus"
After its long reign at the top, it is not surprising that Kiss has finally racked up enough points to go platinum. And well deserved it is for this great single.
