SURE SHOTS TIP LIST
Bubbling under the 50. Most likely to make a chart impact.
1. Korn "Freak On A Leash"
2. John Mellencamp "I'm Not Running Anymore"
The second single from his latest effort, a cool acoustic rock track.
3. Train "Free"
4. The Black Crowes "By Your Side"
The single isn't serviced to radio for a while but it's a great song. I predict a FUTURE #1 for this one.
5. The Offspring "Why Don't You Get A Job"

SHOOT THE RADIO SHITLIST
Overplayed, overrated, overhyped. Least likely to make chart impact.
1. Britney Spears "Baby One More Time"
1 week at #1. Finally, a song that I despise more than "Lullaby". Britney Spears needs a brain transplant.
2. Shawn Mullins "Lullaby"
13 weeks at #1. Don't get me wrong. This still sucks BIG TIME.
3. Beastie Boys "Body Movin"
I've discovered that they truly lack originality or feeling in their music. These are not my only criteria in judging music but I can't say anything good about this song.
4. Mariah Carey "I Still Believe"
Mariah has sunk lower than ever by fucking all those air force guys to appear in her video. I suggest you find a career in prostitution, Mariah.
5. Beck "Tropicalia"

NUMBER ONE

The Black Crowes spend a ninth week at #1 with their huge smash "Kickin' My Heart Around". The Crowes are bulleted this week, extending the lead they have over any major competition. "Kickin'" is #1 personal points, up from #2 and #10 popular points. The #2 title, "10,000 Horses" is #2 personal points with no popular points at all while the #3 title, "Turn The Page" is #3 personal points and #8 popular points. Both singles have peaked. The only major competition is Collective Soul's "Heavy" which zooms up to #4 from #7. It is #3 in popular points and #6 in personal points. It is the second most improved chart title this week and a #1 is not that impossible.

NEW ENTRIES

There is only one new entry this week. It comes from a single that has been bubbling under for quite a while. It's Marvelous 3's "Freak Of The Week", a huge alternative hit. It's very catchy but may burn out like other "catchy" titles. Barenaked Ladies's "One Week", a former #1, spent a very short time in the chart while New Radicals' "You Get What You Give" moves down to #50 from #35. Ouch!

THE LONGEVITY CHECK

"Inside Out" still doing it inside the chart in its 27th week.

ROCK SPOTLIGHT

3 years after Smashing Pumpkins' "1979" was a simultaneous #1 smash on both alternative and hard rock radio, Lenny Kravitz's "Fly Away" accomplished the long awaited feat late 1998. Now, after only a few months, it happens again as Everlast's "What It's Like" does just that. Very noteworthy since not only is it Everlast's debut single but he was also a hip hop artist with the group House Of Pain prior to his solo career.

GOLD & PLATINUM

PLATINUM -
Lenny Kravitz - "Fly Away"
Rob Zombie - "Dragula"

Two chart veteran singles go platinum.
