SURE SHOTS TIP LIST
Bubbling under the 50. Most likely to make a chart impact.
1. Finger Eleven "Above"
A great followup to the hit "Quicksand". It is also doing very well on radio.
2. Jonny Lang "Wander This World"
A lot more blues and a lot less rock than "Still Rainin'" but hey, it's a cool song.
3. Susan Tedeschi "It Hurts So Bad"
This single's building up at radio, could make an appearance in upcoming weeks.
4. Lit "My Own Worst Enemy"
Serviced to active rock radio this week, it's an okay song.
5. Econoline Crush "All That You Are"
This band ROCKS. Their music is unique yet very accessible and this song is a GREAT followup to "Surefire". Serviced to active rock radio this week.

SHOOT THE RADIO SHITLIST
Overplayed, overrated, overhyped. Least likely to make chart impact.
1. Mariah Carey "I Still Believe"
1 week at #1. Malariah Scarey needs to be shot.
2. Britney Spears "Baby One More Time"
2 weeks at #1. Britney Spears needs a high school education.
3. Shawn Mullins "Lullaby"
13 weeks at #1. Shawn Mullins needs a plastic surgeon.
4. Shawn Mullins "Shimmer"
Oh GAWD, it's just as bad as "Lullaby"
5. Soul Coughing "Circles"
It's been on my nerves for a while but it makes an appearance for the first time.

NUMBER ONE

Collective Soul's "Heavy" is this week's second most improved title, but it can't go any higher in rank because it's #1. The #2 title is also bulleted, reflecting a strong week overall. The Black Crowes' "Kickin' My Heart Around" spends its 11th week inside the Top 2. An amazing feat. But the real competition is further down the chart, at #19, another Black Crowes single. "Only A Fool" makes an amazing debut at #19, and #10 on personal points. This great followup to "Kickin'" is almost sure to sail into the #1 spot or at least the Top 5. "Fool" was officially serviced to radio last week and over a hundred stations have added it to their playlists in only two weeks. This single's going to be huge. It is this week's Greatest Gainer on Billboard, increasing nearly 1,000 spins, nearly three times more than the #2 greatest gainer. Other competition include Metallica's "Whiskey In The Jar", a great song making significant gains inside the Top 10, up 8-5.

NEW ENTRIES

We went into detail with this week's Smashing Debut "Only A Fool". Further down the chart, Dovetail Joint makes a debut with "Level On The Inside", a great new song which is already a major alternative hit. Last week it was #4 on Bubbling Under, the new chart which charts the five songs that barely missed the chart. Last week's #5 Fatboy Slim's "Praise You" debuts at #37. Outside the Top 40, The Offspring debut with minimal personal points, mostly due to its #7 popular points. Despite this, if it loses enough personal points, it will fall off the chart. The overrated Marilyn Manson does the same, entering at #48 with the okay single "I Don't Like The Drugs (But The Drugs Like Me)".

THE LONGEVITY CHECK

"Inside Out" leaves the chart, logging 28 weeks. The longest running titles are now Hole's "Celebrity Skin" and Rob Zombie's "Dragula" which have charted for 24 weeks.

GOLD & PLATINUM

PLATINUM -
The Black Crowes - "Kickin' My Heart Around"
Candlebox - "10,000 Horses"
Everlast - "What It's Like"

GOLD -
Godsmack - "Whatever"
Creed - "One"

Creed score gold single #2 with "One".

ROCK SPOTLIGHT

Marvelous 3's "Freak Of The Week" is shaping up to become one of the biggest hits this year. It was #2 most added title last week, #4 this week, on rock radio. On alternative, it's already a top ten smash. Look for this one to be huge as well on Doc Rawk's 50, it's just a great song full of energy and an amazing hook. The Black Crowes' "Only A Fool" is the other success story. Watch for this one to hit the roof. Collective Soul's "Heavy" is still #1 on rock radio, for a second week on Billboard. What a deserving single!
