SURE SHOTS TIP LIST
Bubbling under the 50. Most likely to make a chart impact.
1. Pantera "Hole In The Sky"
Although airplay isn't too hot for this track, it's quite a good song and may enter soon enough.
2. Fear Factory "Descent"
It's a great song and airplay is still growing for this one.
3. Fuel "Jesus Or A Gun"
Fuel's first two singles hit Top 5. This is a strong third single off of "Sunburn".
4. Cake "Sheep Go To Heaven"
The song itself isn't very strong but the lyrics are fun, we'll see.

SHOOT THE RADIO SHITLIST
Overplayed, overrated, overhyped. Least likely to make chart impact.
1. Mariah Carey "I Still Believe"
2 weeks at #1. She makes Britney Spears look like Einstein in this video.
2. Britney Spears "Baby One More Time"
2 weeks at #1.
3. Beastie Boys "Body Movin'"
Oh GAWD, it's just as bad as "Lullaby"
4. Soul Coughing "Circles"
5. Shawn Mullins "Lullaby"
13 weeks at #1.

NUMBER ONE

Collective Soul's "Heavy" reigns supreme for a third week. No big news there. Behind it though, at #2, former number one The Black Crowes' "Kickin' My Heart Around" spends its third week at #2 after falling off from a 9 week reign at #1. That's 12 weeks inside the Top 2, the longest running #1 and Top 2 single so far. "Heavy"'s major competition comes from Metallica's "Whiskey In The Jar", continuing its steady rise up the charts, landing at #3 this week. This great followup to the #1 smash "Turn The Page", may take over the chart very soon. However, stronger competition comes further down the Top 10. The Crowes chart a second single inside the top 10 with "Only A Fool", the fastest reacting single in the past 3 weeks on rock radio. On Doc Rawk's 50, it's up 19-10 in its second chart week. Marvelous 3's "Freak Of The Week" experiences a parallel jump, 20-11, and it could just be a future #1.

NEW ENTRIES

There isn't one strong debut this week. However there are six new entries this week, beginning their chart lives further down the chart. Tin Star's "Head" leads the pack at #34, ahead of R.E.M.'s "Lotus", which finally makes a chart appearance and Finger Eleven's "Above" at #36. Tin Star's single is a huge hit on alternative radio while R.E.M.'s airplay isn't too hot and it seems to have peaked. Finger Eleven's is set to become a hit on rock radio, the major format for Doc Rawk's 50. So my money goes out to Finger Eleven. Lit's "My Own Worst Enemy" makes an appearance, despite the lack of personal points. This may grow in upcoming weeks, along with popular points, as this single is shaping up to become a hit on active rock radio. Pushmonkey's "Caught My Mind" also debuts. It's the followup to the Top 10 hit "Handslide", which didn't exactly sizzle up rock radio. Hopefully, this one will. Finally, Motorhead's "Ace Of Spades" debuts at #45, as the live version is starting to get airplay. They have a live CD coming out soon.

THE LONGEVITY CHECK

"Celebrity Skin" remains at #25 on its 25th week while "Dragula" is poised to fall off the chart very soon. Both bands have followup singles charting high.
