1. Indigenous "Now That You're Gone"
SURE SHOTS TIP LIST
Bubbling under the 50. Most likely to make a chart impact.
This blues rock track will finally make an appearance next week.
2. Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies "Right Place Wrong Time"
Even though it's relatively new, airplay isn't too great but nonetheless, it will chart.
3. Bad Company "Hey Hey"
1. Eminem "My Name Is"
SHOOT THE RADIO SHITLIST
Overplayed, overrated, overhyped. Least likely to make chart impact.
3 weeks at #1. Why the fuck are alternative stations playing this crap? Oh, dumb question.
2. Mariah Carey "I Still Believe"
2 weeks at #1. If you've seen the remix video, you'll see why this is a strong #2.
3. Shawn Mullins "Shimmer"
The last person I'd like to be stuck in a deserted island with.
4. Lauryn Hill "Ex Factor"
The ex factor for any potential mate of mine is a similar contempt for Lauryn Hill.
5. Beastie Boys "Remote Control"
Oh, it's worse than "Body Movin"...
NUMBER ONE
For a sixth week running, Collective Soul's "Heavy" is still #1. Even though none of the Top 5 is bulleted, due to an overall decrease in points, it is very likely that The Black Crowes' "Only A Fool" will take over the #1 spot. For a second week running at #2, it decreases the margin of points seperating it from "Heavy" and may just take over the top spot next week. We'll see. Meanwhile, the Crowes are still at #3 with "Kickin' My Heart Around", perhaps the biggest chart hit in all the weeks of the chart's existence. Candlebox's "Happy Pills" moves up to #4 and despite decreasing airplay, may be another contender for #1. Previously, "10,000 Horses" peaked out at #2 for 3 weeks *after* airplay was dying. Don't count out bulleted titles further down from Bare Jr., Train and Marvelous 3.
NEW ENTRIES
This week's smashing debut goes out to Jonny Lang's "Wander This World", the followup to Lang's mega smash "Still Rainin'", which is #19 this week. "Wander" starts of at #28 and looks set to crack the Top 20. Meanwhile, Buckcherry's "Lit Up" debuts at #33 and it's a great song ready to light up the chart. Further down, Virgos Merlot debuts at #44 with "Gain" and a former #1 on the Bubbling Under chart *barely* makes it on this week's issue. Susan Tedeschi's "It Hurt So Bad" anchors the chart at #50.
THE LONGEVITY CHECK
Hole's "Celebrity Skin" is #45 this week, taking a major nosedive down from #38. It looks like "Skin"'s last week on the chart, logging an amazing 28 weeks inside the Top 50. It ties "Inside Out"'s 28 week run and if it does spend one more week on the chart, it will be the sole record holder. Stay tuned.
GOLD & PLATINUM
PLATINUM -
GOLD -
Eve 6 - "Leech"
As "Leech" moves down the chart in a hasty manner, it has the consolation of going gold. It's Eve 6's second gold single, after the platinum success story of "Inside Out".
ROCK SPOTLIGHT
Rock and roll is back in full gear. For a few months, it was simply missing from the charts. Alternative / modern rock crossovers were all over the rock chart. Now, bands like the Black Crowes, Bad Company, Train, Indigenous and Jonny Lang, Sammy Hagar and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, artists who will never get played on alternative radio, are kicking ass.
