SURE SHOTS TIP LIST
Bubbling under the 50. Most likely to make a chart impact.
1. Sammy Hagar "Mas Tequila"
Watch for a HUGE debut for Sammy next week.
2. The Rolling Stones "Memory Motel"
The second single off of "No Security" is gaining in airplay and will appear on next week's chart.
3. Kid Rock "Bawitdaba"
Kid Rock's first single "I Am The Bullgod" peaked out at #27.

SHOOT THE RADIO SHITLIST
Overplayed, overrated, overhyped. Least likely to make chart impact.
1. Eminem "My Name Is"
4 weeks at #1. There's nothing much to say, if you haven't heard this, you're very lucky.
2. Monica "Angel Of Mine"
Monica's doing a good job in beating Brandy for the Most Annoying R&B Bitch Award. Shall I say good job?
3. Alanis Morissette "Unsent"
I thought "Thank U" was bad. Try this one. It has no sense of songwriting whatsoever. Gawd, it sucks.
4. Savage Garden "Animal Song"
See #3. The lyrics for this song are so PATHETIC. Catch the video, it's even worse.
5. Shawn Mullins "Shimmer"
STILL the last person I'd like to be stuck in a deserted island with.

NUMBER ONE

As every single in the Top 10 is unbulleted, The Black Crowes manage to inch out Collective Soul by an EXTREMELY narrow 0.2 point margin. This ends "Heavy"'s 6 week reign on top of the chart. More importantly, this gives the Crowes the distinction of being the first band to score two consecutive hits, or 2 #1 hits for that matter. "Only A Fool" is their second #1 hit, following the Winter's biggest hit, "Kickin' My Heart Around", which spent an incredible 9 weeks at #1. Hopefully, "Only A Fool" will log decent time on top. This doesn't look too likely though since Sammy Hagar's excellent new single "Mas Tequila" will make a HUGE splash next week and may just debut at #1 or ascend to the top spot in one or two weeks. Hey, I may be wrong.

NEW ENTRIES

Only three new entries this week, starting off with a very strong debut from Loudmouth, which scores #24 with "Fly" on its first week. The single is just beginning its life on radio and will most likely ascend in upcoming weeks with a boost in airplay and personal points. The single is the zillionth single to be taken off the Varsity Blues soundtrack which spawned active rock hits such as "Every Little Thing Counts" from Janus Stark, "Nice Guys Finish Last" from Green Day and "Run" from Collective Soul, currently #26. The other two debuts this week come from Indigenous and Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies, whose singles are currently experiencing some major airplay on rock stations.

THE LONGEVITY CHECK

Creed's "What's This Life For" spends a 28th week on the chart, making it a 3 way tie for the longest running chart single, with Eve 6's "Inside Out" and Hole's "Celebrity Skin", which drops out this week.

GOLD & PLATINUM

PLATINUM -

GOLD -
Metallica - "Whiskey In The Jar"
Orgy - "Blue Monday"

Two singles in the Top 20 go gold. Metallica scores a second gold single while Orgy scores its first with its debut smash.

ROCK SPOTLIGHT

Sammy Hagar's "Mas Tequila" is proving to be a HUGE smash on active rock and rock radio. This single is infectious, catchy and upbeat, the perfect single to score big on the official charts and Doc Rawk's 50 Singles. The single also sets Sammy up for a powerful solo career. His new album Red Voodoo is his second record and is set to reinforce the fact that he's the most talented of the three Van Halen frontmen.
