SURE SHOTS TIP LIST
Bubbling under the 50. Most likely to make a chart impact.
1. Big Sugar "Better Get Used To It"
This single is hot on rock radio and is actually a pretty experimental and weird track. We'll see how it fares on this chart in upcoming weeks.
2. Blink 182 "What's My Age Again?"
They're back with some new stuff!
3. Tal Bachman "She's So High"
Perhaps one of the best tracks being played on Triple A but not on rock is this one.

SHOOT THE RADIO SHITLIST
Overplayed, overrated, overhyped. Least likely to make chart impact.
1. The Offspring "Why Don't You Get A Job"
1 week at #1. It's the song getting on my nerves most this week, I can't escape it and it just sucks.
2. Alanis Morissette "Unsent"
4 weeks at #1. Still annoying as ever, but since I'm not hearing it as much, I won't be as annoyed.
3. Savage Garden "The Animal Song"
After watching the movie (which I did like), I hate the song even more.
4. Busta Rhymes / Janet Jackson "What's It Gonna Be"
The video is such a laugh. Janshit, perhaps the most annoying of all female singers, looks just like a whore who has been abusing drugs.
5. Cher "Believe"
When will they stop playing this damn song?

NUMBER ONE

Holding strong for a third week at #1 is Sammy Hagar's "Mas Tequila", which is approaching gold status on its 6th chart week, which will be the shortest time it has taken for a single to go gold. This hot single is #1 personal points and #2 popular points, very heatlhy. However, Buckcherry's "Lit Up", which has achieved Most Improved status 4 times and is now #2, up from #3, should be the next single to top the chart.

NEW ENTRIES

Finally, some high debuts. This week's Smashing Debut goes out to Tom Petty's latest, "Room At The Top", which is a stark contrast to its predecessor, "Free Girl Now", holding strong at #10. Another strong debut is Train's "Meet Virginia", another strong followup to the #4 smash "Free". Both singles should be climbing up the charts. Last week's Smashing Debut, Godsmack's "Keep Away" moves up from #40 to #22. Further down the chart, we have new entries from Splender, a new band whose single "Yeah, Whatever, should be a decent radio hit. Also, Vast make a #49 appearance with their new single "Pretty When You Cry".

THE LONGEVITY CHECK

As "Slide" slides out of the chart after a 30 week run, the longest title is Candlebox's "10,000 Horses", down to #48 on its 29th chart week. Will it surpass 30 weeks? Wait and see.

GOLD & PLATINUM

PLATINUM -
Collective Soul - "Heavy"

GOLD -
Collective Soul - "Run"
Marvelous 3 - "Freak Of The Week"

Collective Soul's "Run" peaked out at #22 and is the only non-Top 20 single to go gold.

ROCK SPOTLIGHT

On Billboard, Collective Soul's "Heavy" spends a 12th week at #1, joining a small number of singles to have spent that long on top of the chart. It is also the longest title this year and may just become the top single of the year. Previously, Metallica's "Turn The Page" spent 11 weeks at #1, Collective Soul surpassed that. Previously, Metallica had the most plays in a single week in history, now Collective Soul has surpassed that.
