SURE SHOTS TIP LIST
Bubbling under the 50. Most likely to make a chart impact.
1. Pearl Jam "Last Kiss"
The new Pearl Jam will make a huge debut next week, a great remake.
2. Fear Factory "Cars"
Doing very well on radio, another remake which will do well, more so than predecessor "Descent", a #42 hit.
3. Fountains Of Wayne "Denise"
This alternative single is catchy and refreshing, definitely a potential hit.

SHOOT THE RADIO SHITLIST
Overplayed, overrated, overhyped. Least likely to make chart impact.
1. The Offspring "Why Don't You Get A Job"
2 week at #1. Airplay is consistently fading, thank Go.
2. Alanis Morissette "Unsent"
4 weeks at #1.
3. Busta Rhymes / Janet Jackson "What's It Gonna Be"
4. Savage Garden "The Animal Song"
5. Cher "Believe"

NUMBER ONE

Another week atop the chart for Sammy Hagar, while competition is heating up, with Buckcherry scoring only 5 points less than Sammy. It could very well take over the top spot next week, but another week for Sammy is likely. It is after all bulletetd and airplay is still strong after many weeks. Another strong contender for the top is Oleander, a band who is making solid gains each week with their single "Why I'm Here", a potential #1. And don't rule out other consistent gainers, such as Second Coming's "Vintage Eyes" (#12) and this week's Most Improved, Loudmouth's "Fly", up to #9.

NEW ENTRIES

Another week of strong debuts. This week, we welcome seven new entries, including Shades Apart's "Valentine", a single making big waves on Active Rock radio. This single will be huge, mark my words. The #23 debut, for now, comes mostly from strong personal points. Other strong debuts include Fuel's third single, "Jesus Or A Gun", which is the followup to two previous Top 5 hits including the #1 pre-chart smash "Shimmer". This new single is the heaviest of the three and should do just as well, if not better. Another third single comes from The Black Crowes. The difference is the Crowes' first two singles are still charted and currently in the Top 10. At #34, the followup to current #3, "Only A Fool", is "Go Faster", which is already garnering significant airplay at outlets such as KISW in Seattle. "Go Faster" looks set to ascend to #1. Other debuts come from DDT, Big Sugar, Sponge and Queens Of The Stone Age.

THE LONGEVITY CHECK

With "10,000 Horses" out this week, the single which has the biggest chance of breaking the 30-week record is "Kickin' My Heart Around", which is #8 on its 25th chart week. Amazing.

GOLD & PLATINUM

PLATINUM -
Godsmack - "Whatever"

GOLD -
Sammy Hagar - "Mas Tequila"
Train - "Free"

After only 6 weeks, the shortest time span ever, "Mas Tequila", the current #1, goes gold.

ROCK SPOTLIGHT

Collective Soul's "Heavy" reigns on Mainstream Rock Tracks for an incredible 13th week. It is among, if not the only of, the longest chart toppers in the history of the chart. Signs of decreasing airplay are showing though, as it loses the #1 spot on contributing charts, last week to Creed's "One" on Active Rock while Sammy Hagar is #1 on Heritage.
